Fastned starts partnership with Van der Valk in the Netherlands and Belgium
Amsterdam, 2 juni 2017. The Dutch company Fastned that is building a European network of fast charging stations, has signed an agreement with hotel chain Van der Valk Hotels & Restaurants to build fast charging stations in The Netherlands and Belgium. This marks a next step by Fastned in the development of a European fast charging network. Parties have made a first selection of a few dozen locations at Van der Valk Hotels & Restaurants in both the Netherlands and Belgium and will now start working out further details.
Currently Fastned has 63 stations operational in The Netherlands. Fastned recently acquired additional locations in Germany and signed an agreement with Transport for London for the realisation of fast-charging stations in The Greater London Area. The partnership with Van der Valk allows Fastned to expand its network to Belgium.
Bart Lubbers, co-founder Fastned: "I'm very proud that Fastned is now expanding its network in all neighboring countries. This makes Fastned a European company and gives electric drivers ever more freedom to drive anywhere. In 2011 I invested in Fastned to realise a national charging network in the Netherlands. I’m excited to see that we are now building a European network together with an ever increasing group of private investors.”
Fred van der Valk: "Both Van der Valk and Fastned cater to people who are on the road and have a strong focus on customer service. This forms the basis of our partnership. With high quality charging stations at our hotels and restaurants we will provide an important additional service to our customers."

Fastned is building a European network of fast-charging stations where all electric cars can charge as fast as possible with 100% renewable energy. The stations are located at high traffic locations along the highways and in cities, where EVs can charge in approximately 20 minutes. Fastned’s goal is to build a European network of one thousand fast charging stations. This will give electric drivers the freedom to drive across Europe. As of today, Fastned has 85 stations operational in The Netherlands and Germany. Fastned is preparing the construction of fast charging stations in The Netherlands, Germany, The United Kingdom and Belgium. Fastned is listed on the Nxchange stock exchange.
Fastned is rolling out its network of fast charging stations in response to the rapidly increasing numbers of EVs in Europe. Car manufacturers are investing billions of Euros in the development of, and production capacity for, EVs. More and more EVs are hitting the roads, which drives the need for charging infrastructure.
